Ashwini Kakkar

Ashwini Kakkar has served as an Independent Director on the Ambit Board since 2005 and became Chairman in April 2013. His career includes positions at Otis Elevator Company, Philips India Ltd., International General Electric India Ltd, and later, Thomas Cook India Ltd. At Thomas Cook, he managed the Indian company and oversaw operations from Singapore to Egypt. He also served as a Director on their worldwide Board. In 2006-07, Mr. Kakkar became an entrepreneur and is involved with Mercury Travels Ltd., Mercury Himalayan Exploration, Via.Com, Explore Broadcasting Ltd., and Akshay Software Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Kakkar, a member of the Institute of Directors, London, received the ‘Chevalier De L’Ordre Merite' from the French Government in 2007, a recognition equivalent to the Padma Vibhushan in India. He has been on the boards of several French organizations, such as the Global board of the Insead Alumni Association, Atout France, Europassistance, and currently serves on the Global Board of Action Against Hunger (Action Contre La Faim), based in Paris. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology at Kurukshetra, an MBA from Insead, France, and a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata.
