Pankaj Chopra

Pankaj Chopra, the CFA charterholder who founded Five Rivers Portfolio Managers, brings 30 years of Indian equity market experience. Before Five Rivers, Pankaj spent five years as CEO of Reliance Wealth Management, where he created a third-party distribution operation and a targeted equities portfolio business. Reliance Wealth Management advised the WIOF - India Performance Fund, the Reliance Shariah India Growth Fund, and the RWM Managed Portfolio Fund. Earlier, as Head of Client Funds at HDFC Asset Management, Pankaj started a private money management and advisory practice, advising Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Nikko Asset Management, and Standard Life Investments, among others. In 2000, Pankaj helped launch HDFC Mutual Fund as a Senior Fund Manager. Before that, he spent seven years in Treasury at Housing Development Finance Corporation, securing investment advisory mandates from international funds like Commonwealth Equity Fund and Invesco India Growth Fund. In the early 1990s, Batterymarch Financial Management in Boston seconded Pankaj to manage their Indian investments. Pankaj has a master’s degree in Finance, a degree in Agricultural Sciences has finished his CFA Institute coursework, and holds a charter from ICFAI, Hyderabad.
