How Does AccuraCap Alpha10's AI-Driven Stock Selection Work?

The AccuraCap Alpha10 investment strategy combines quantitative analysis with fundamental and technical indicators. The objective is to systematically rank companies based on multiple characteristics rather than relying on a single financial metric.

The process can broadly be understood through three stages.

Stage 1: Reported Earnings

The first stage begins with the analysis of reported financial information. Data is filtered and examined for quality before it is incorporated into the ranking process.

Key areas include:

  • Reported earnings
  • Quality of earnings
  • Revenue trends
  • Corporate governance
  • Financial data consistency
  • Business performance indicators

This stage helps create a cleaner base for analysing companies and comparing them across the investment universe.

Stage 2: Core Earnings and Balance Sheet

The second stage focuses on the underlying strength of the business.

The framework considers:

  • Core earnings
  • Revenue and cash-flow trends
  • 20-quarter trend analysis
  • Margin trends
  • Return on capital
  • Balance-sheet strength
  • Solvency
  • Liquidity
  • Return on marginal invested capital
  • Short-, medium- and long-term price momentum

The model also accounts for seasonality when analysing longer-term business trends.

Stage 3: Ranked Universe and Portfolio Construction

After the fundamental and technical analysis, companies are ranked according to the proprietary framework.

Valuation is assessed relative to:

  • The broader investment universe
  • Comparable companies
  • Historical valuation levels

The highest-ranked companies that meet the portfolio's investment criteria are then considered for inclusion.

The use of an algorithm creates a systematic decision-making framework, but it does not eliminate investment risk or guarantee that a particular stock will outperform.

What Are Alpha10's Portfolio Construction Rules?

Alpha10 follows a concentrated, long-only portfolio construction approach. The strategy typically holds 13–15 stocks, allowing individual stock selection to have a meaningful impact on portfolio performance.

Its portfolio discipline includes:

  • Large-cap-oriented investment universe
  • Typically 13–15 stocks
  • Sector exposure capped at around 30%
  • Long-only equity positioning
  • No derivatives or leverage
  • No IPO investments
  • No PSU stocks
  • Relatively low portfolio churn
  • Approximately two-year average holding period
  • Periodic portfolio rebalancing
  • Replacement of lower-ranked securities with higher-ranked candidates

The strategy generally remains invested rather than attempting to predict short-term market movements. Portfolio changes are driven primarily by the ranking framework and the underlying investment criteria.

Portfolio holdings and sector weights can change as part of the strategy's investment process. Individual PMS portfolios may also differ depending on investment timing, account size, restrictions and other client-specific factors.

What Are the Key Risks of AccuraCap Alpha10 PMS?

AccuraCap Alpha10 is a market-linked equity strategy and carries the risks associated with investing in listed equities.

Equity-Market Risk

Broad market corrections can affect the value of the portfolio, regardless of the performance of individual companies.

Concentration Risk

A portfolio of around 13–15 stocks is more concentrated than a broad-market index. A significant decline in one or more holdings can therefore have a noticeable impact on overall returns.

Sector Risk

Although the strategy follows sector exposure limits, several portfolio companies may still be affected by the same economic, regulatory or industry-specific factors.

Valuation Risk

A company with strong fundamentals may still generate weak investment returns if its market valuation falls.

Large-Cap Risk

Large-cap companies may have established businesses, but they remain exposed to competition, regulatory changes, earnings fluctuations and changing market conditions.

Quantitative Model Risk

The investment process depends on data, algorithms and quantitative rankings. Changes in market behaviour, data quality or the effectiveness of individual factors may affect portfolio outcomes.

Liquidity Risk

Market liquidity can change during periods of stress. This may affect the ability to buy or sell securities at expected prices.

Drawdown Risk

A three-to-five-year investment horizon does not eliminate the possibility of temporary or prolonged losses. Investors should have the financial capacity to remain invested during periods of market volatility.

Who Should Consider the AccuraCap Alpha10 PMS?

AccuraCap Alpha10 PMS may be considered by investors who:

  • Can meet the ₹50 lakh PMS minimum investment
  • Seek large-cap equity exposure
  • Prefer a quantitative and systematic investment process
  • Have a medium- to long-term investment horizon
  • Can tolerate equity-market volatility
  • Are comfortable with a concentrated 13–15-stock portfolio
  • Understand that market-linked returns can be negative

The strategy may not suit investors seeking guaranteed returns, capital protection, short-term liquidity or highly diversified multi-asset exposure.

What to Expect from the AccuraCap Alpha10 Large Cap PMS

Alpha10 follows a systematic stock-ranking approach rather than attempting to predict short-term market movements. Its large-cap orientation, concentrated portfolio and quantitative selection framework are central characteristics of the strategy.

The approach may provide a structured way of identifying companies based on multiple fundamental and technical factors. At the same time, concentrated exposure can make returns uneven across market cycles.

Investors should therefore evaluate Alpha10 based on its investment philosophy, portfolio construction, historical performance, fees, risk characteristics and investment horizon rather than focusing only on periods of benchmark outperformance.
