The strategy follows a "Buy and Hold" approach focused on companies that are currently underappreciated by the market. It uses an in-house "BMV" (Business, Management, and Valuation) framework to filter for companies with a visible competitive advantage, capable management, and attractive valuations relative to their growth potential.
By investing across large, mid, and small-cap stocks, the fund manager has the flexibility to find "value" wherever it exists in the market. Large-caps often provide stability, while mid and small-caps offer higher growth potential when their intrinsic value is eventually recognized by the broader market.
In alignment with SEBI regulations for all Portfolio Management Services in India, the minimum investment required is ₹50 Lakhs. This can be contributed via cash (bank transfer) or by transferring an existing portfolio of listed securities of equivalent value.
The performance of the Value Strategy is measured against the S&P BSE 500 TRI. This benchmark is chosen because it represents a broad cross-section of the Indian equity market, covering various sectors and market capitalizations, which aligns with the fund's multi-cap mandate.
Unlike Mutual Funds, where tax is only triggered when you sell your units, in a PMS, every transaction (buy/sell) within the portfolio is treated as a direct transaction by the investor. This means Capital Gains Tax (Short-Term or Long-Term) is applicable on each sale executed by the fund manager within your account. ICICI Prudential provides an audited annual tax statement to help you file your returns.
