Fund Purpose
Artha Venture Fund I (AVF I) is structured as India’s pioneering institutional early-stage micro-VC fund, designed to identify, back, and nurture high-potential startups from inception to market leadership. Originally launched to transition proprietary family office wealth into a disciplined, institutional co-investment vehicle, the fund provides early-stage enterprises with foundational seed capital and extensive follow-on runway. Its core target is to capture structural digital transformations across India’s consumption and software ecosystems, delivering extraordinary DPI (Distributions to Paid-In Capital) and absolute value to its limited partners.
Fund Philosophy
Foundational Seed Conviction
We believe true venture alpha is generated by backing extraordinary founders before their business models achieve public validation. The fund concentrates its origination engine on seed-stage architectures, stepping in as a high-conviction institutional first partner.
The "1-2-4" Deployment Strategy
Capital allocation must scale programmatically with business maturation. The fund utilizes a strict stage-driven framework: deploying up to ₹3–4 Crore at Seed, doubling down with up to ₹6–8 Crore at Pre-Series A, and compounding winners with up to ₹12–16 Crore at Series A based on verified operational milestones.
Deep Capital Efficiency
We actively reject hyper-dilutive cash-burn dynamics. Our underwriting engine prioritizes companies showing path-to-profitability parameters, strong localized unit economics, and resilient cost configurations capable of navigating severe macroeconomic funding winters.
Active Center of Excellence (CoE) Support
Capital injection is simply the beginning of our operational alliance. The fund deploys dedicated in-house Centers of Excellence, embedding platform specialists across process engineering, scalable technology infrastructure, and cross-border commercial networks directly into portfolio operations.
Cross-Vehicle Lifecycle Continuity
We preserve equity dominance in breakout entities through integrated group alignment. By operating seamlessly alongside subsequent expansion engines like the Artha Select Fund, the platform ensures its top-performing winners remain fully capitalized through later growth tranches.
